In Canyonlands, Adventure Runs Deep
Wilderness River Adventures takes you into the heart of Cataract Canyon, deep within Canyonlands National Park in Southeast Utah. The rafting tour expeditions start at Potash, just south of Moab, and traverse a total of 96 miles through Cataract Canyon, all the way to Hite Marina on Lake Powell.
Nurtured by Nature
Along the journey, you'll experience breathtaking views of sculpted sandstone-the red cliff walls rising 2,000 feet overhead, contrasting the brilliant blue sky. Here, 300 million years of geological history are cast before your eyes, cut by the mighty Colorado River that propels you downstream. In a land contrasts, tiny wildflowers and impressive cacti share the wide-open space with Big Horn Sheep and the call of distant coyotes. This the real West-untamed and awe-inspiring.
Step Back in Time
Take to the land for a guided hike to Ancestral Puebloan cliff dwellings, where you'll find their primitive petroglyphs and granaries seemingly frozen in time. The entire civilization mysteriously vanished 800 years ago, leaving behind evidence of extraordinary lives-with brilliant sandstone architecture and fascinating artwork.
At the confluence of the Colorado and Green Rivers, the rapids begin-15 miles of heart-pounding, adrenaline-surging thrills! Sheer drops and powerful whitewater currents-with names like Little Niagara and Satan's Gut-promise to shake, rattle and roll you until you're hoarse from shrieks and laughter. Through 29 rapids, the refreshing soaking awakens your spirit before the Utah sun warms you to the core.
Settling in for the Night
Late afternoon finds you at camp for the evening. As your crew sets up the camp kitchen, everyone finds their ideal camp spot and sets up their home for the night. You'll relax with a cool drink and hors d' oeuvres and get better acquainted with your fellow river companions-as dinner sizzles on the grill. After a mouthwatering dinner and experiencing a gorgeous canyon sunset, you'll join in the conversation of the group, and listen to the quiet of the canyon as you settle into your sleeping bag under a blanket of stars.
