Paddle the Colorado River in Glen Canyon at Your Own Pace

Call to book your backhaul service 800.992.8022.

We provide backhauling services from Lees Ferry upriver to just below the Glen Canyon Dam. It’s the perfect adventure for the do-it yourself boater. Paddle watercrafts, not to exceed 16’ in length, including kayaks, canoes, paddle boards and rafts may be backhauled. We do not tow watercrafts. Meet Wilderness River Adventures at Lees Ferry, and we will shuttle you upstream 15 miles, just below the Glen Canyon Dam or to your desired location. The full 15 mile paddle adventure will take approximately 6 to 7 hours. There are 6 campsites for overnight stays. They have self-composting toilets and are first come, first serve. No permit is required for camping.

Water flows are regulated by the Glen Canyon Dam. For water release details, contact the Bureau of Reclamation for the daily outflow at 928.645.3978. You need to be prepared for temperatures from 40 degrees in the early months to 105 degrees in the summer. Early spring winds and monsoon rain in the mid-summer are frequent. Water temperatures are always in the mid 40’s as the water is released from the base of the Glen Canyon Dam.
