In compliance with Homeland Security policies, only small day bags or backpacks will be permitted on our Horseshoe Bend Rafting trips. Prohibited items include, but are not limited to: guns, knives, utility tools, mace/pepper spray, cigarette lighters, or weapons of any kind.
Time is confusing out here! Arizona does not follow daylight savings and is in the Mountain Standard Time Zone. However, the Navajo Nation does follow Daylight Savings Time. Click here to check what time it is.
Make sure you are prepared to spend the day outside. Because weather conditions change throughout the season, check the weather forecast before your arrival. In the spring and fall, we can experience cooler temperatures and windy days, jackets and rain gear may be appropriate. Arizona’s monsoon, or rainy season starts in July and ends in September. We may experience thunderstorms and afternoon rain showers where rain gear would be appreciated. Sun protection is a must, so bring a brimmed hat, sunglasses, light weight long-sleeve shirt for protection against the sun, sunscreen, and lip balm. Always remember to stay hydrated and be sure to bring a refillable water bottle. You may bring a lunch or snacks. We will be entering a Homeland Security site in order to get to the launch site, therefore no weapons of any kind (i.e. guns, pepper spray, tasers, knives, etc.) are allowed. Lastly, bring a great attitude and be prepared to really enjoy the day.

Rafting the Colorado River through Horseshoe Bend in Glen Canyon is considered a calm water trip. No whitewater will be encountered, so this trip is perfect for the entire family and people of all abilities.
Since this is a calm water trip, we do not anticipate a situation where you might end up in the water. We do provide USCG-approved life jackets, and our guides are trained in water-rescue. While life jackets are optional for adults, wearing a lifejacket is mandatory for children, twelve years old and younger, at all times while the boats are underway.
The general rule of thumb is to book as early as possible to ensure that you get the date and departure time you like best. If you would like to book an entire boat for a large group, please call 800.341.8934 to speak with one of our group reservations specialists. Wilderness River Adventures also takes bookings by telephone, online, or in person at our headquarters in Page, Arizona. We invite you to walk-in if you are interested in a same-day trip. We do require 6 full-fare passengers to launch a trip. Should the minimum not be reached, the trip will be canceled. Anyone already booked for the trip will receive a 100% refund and an opportunity to re-book for another trip.
Wilderness River Adventures has specialized equipment to accommodate guests with disabilities and can offer modified trips. Please call 800.992.8022 to discuss your individual needs and how we can accommodate them.
Passengers must be 4 years of age or older to participate.
Wilderness River Adventures runs rafting trips rain or shine. We reserve the right to cancel trips due to unsafe conditions based on our policies. If we have to cancel your trip due to weather, you will be refunded 100% of the trip cost or we will reschedule you to another trip time or date if available.
Be prepared to go rafting and spending the day outside. Conditions on the river change throughout the year, so we ask you to dress for the season (up to 105 degrees Fahrenheit in summer; down to 45 degrees Fahrenheit in the spring and fall). In general, WEAR LAYERS. Spring and fall months, we can experience cooler temperatures and windy days, jackets and long pants are appropriate. During the summer months, shorts and light weight clothing are acceptable attire. Brimmed hat, sunglasses, and shoes that can get wet and sandy, are musts for the adventure!
Our river trip is considered calm water. You should not get wet, but there may be an occasional splash. Also, if the wind picks up down in the canyon, there might be spray over the bow of the raft.
The water from Glen Canyon Dam is released at a constant 47 degrees Fahrenheit. Rule of thumb….it warms one degree every 20 miles it travels downstream.
